Wake Forest gets first 2013 commitment from forward Greg McClinton

WakeForest

Following a solid recruiting effort in 2012, Wake Forest scored its first commitment from the Class of 2013, reeling in 6-6 forward Greg McClinton of Hargrave Military Academy (Va.).

I wanted to go to the school that wanted me the most and the school that recruited me the hardest,” McClinton told the Winston-Salem Journal. “I felt like that was Wake Forest. I always was a fan of Wake Forest growing up. It’s always good to stay at home and play in front of your family.”

McClinton, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., is the third player from Hargrave to commit to the Demon Deacons in two years, following guard Codi Miller-McIntyre and center Andre Washington from the Class of 2012.

Wake Forest, first and foremost, is getting an explosive athlete who could thrive in an up-tempo attack. When he gets to campus, he will join fellow athletic wings Arnaud Moto, Aaron Rountree, and Devin Thomas from 2012.

The Demon Deacons have work to do to get back to the top of the ACC, finishing 13-18 this past season, including 4-12 in-conference.

Guard Tony Chennault has transferred for family reasons, but both top scorers from last season are returning, C.J. Harris and Travis McKie, both of whom averaged over 16 points per game in 2012-13.

And McClinton seems hopefully, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

“We’re going to turn it around,” he said. “I’m going to go in there and work hard. They’ve got a good recruiting class coming in this year, so when I get there, they’ll be settled and know the ropes. We’re going to try to turn it around.”
