An Oklahoma judge has postponed the trial of suspended Oklahoma State forward Darrell Williams, who faces four felony counts after allegedly sexually assaulting two women in December 2010.
The trial has been delayed by one week, The Stillwater NewsPress is reporting, because a prosecution witness will be out of the country. It will now begin July 9, one week after the original July 2 date.
Williams is charged with four counts of rape by instrumentation and one count of sexual battery. He was suspended from the team in February 2011 after being charged.
“It goes without saying that we take the charges very seriously,” Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said in a statement at the time. “Darrell will not travel or play while the legal issues are addressed.”
The incident allegedly took place at an off-campus party, which was attended by a number of other basketball players, none of whom were charged in the case.
Williams was a junior at Oklahoma State at the time of the alleged crime, averaging 7.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
He had transferred to Oklahoma State after spending time in junior college at Midland College (Texas).
