Buzz Williams has done well to develop junior-college talent in the past, and it looks like he’ll get another talented transfer from the Class of 2013.

Jameel McKay, a 6-8 Milwaukee, Wisc., native, has committed to Marquette, according to JucoRecruiting.com and confirmed by other outlets.

Before choosing the Golden Eagles, McKay was considering Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Memphis, and Missouri.

Last season at Indian Hills (Iowa) CC, he averaged 14.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 62% from the floor in 35 games.

Marquette’s 2012-13 was built on the foundation of two junior college players, Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom, on their way to a 27-8 record, including 14-4 in the Big East. The Golden Eagles lost in the Sweet 16 to Florida.

McKay likely sees the success of those two players, especially Crowder, as a positive in regards to his aspirations to develop at the collegiate level.

Crowder was named the Big East Player of the Year this past season, averaging 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

The Golden Eagles now have three players committed for the Class of 2013, all three of whom are from Milwaukee.

Forward Deonte Burton and guard Duane Wilson, along with McKay, make up a strong early class.
