Colorado guard Shannon Sharpe has transferred out of the program, according to BuffZone.com.

Sharpe played in 38 games in 2010-2011, but saw him minutes cut this past season. Sharpe missed all three of Colorado’s games in the Pac-12 tournament and didn’t play in either NCAA tournament game. Sharpe is looking to transfer closer to his Southern California home.

Sharpe had a difficult childhood. Both of his parents died of heart failure while he was in high school, and his grandmother moved from Cleveland to California to take care of him and his sister. Sharpe cited “family responsibilities” as the reason he wanted to transfer.

Here’s to hoping that Sharpe transfers to a conference with strong student sections. His name is just too good to go to waste.
