LSU guard John Isaac will not return to team in 2012-13

LSU basketball announced via its Twitter account Wednesday evening that freshman guard John Isaac will not return to the Tigers in 2012-13.

The tweet cited Isaac’s failure to meet “institutional and NCAA requirements” for eligibility.

This past season, Isaac averaged 2.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in 31 contests for the Tigers, with his biggest game coming in the season opener against Nicholls State, when he scored 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting.

Out of high school, Isaac was a three-star guard who was also considering Florida, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Texas, and others, before signing with LSU.

LSU made a coaching change in the offseason, as former coach Trent Johnson moved to TCU and was replaced by Johnny Jones, previously the head coach at North Texas.

The Tigers finished 18-15 last season, including 7-9 in the SEC. They will be losing their top scorer and rebounder next season, seven-footer Justin Hamilton, after Hamilton declared for the NBA draft.

From the Class of 2013, LSU has four players signed, led by Lousiana native shooting guard Malik Morgan.
