Nearly every Big Ten schools can be found among college sports’ biggest revenue producers. Makes sense when one sees what kind of money the Big Ten Network generates.

Per The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the five-year-old TV network had $242 million in revenue for 2011. That figure is courtesy of SNL Kagan, which analyzes the media and communications industry. Since the network’s first full year in 2008, revenue has grown 46 percent.

And with expenses growing at a lower rate, the conference had a profit of $79.2 million. Each school will get about $7 million.

No wonder the SEC wants to start its own conference-wide network and the Pac-12’s is set to launch this fall. Nothing like the rich getting richer.
