CBS/ESPN analyst Bill Raftery to be honored by University of Scranton on Tuesday

One of America’s favorite college basketball analysts, CBS Sports and ESPN’s Bill Raftery, will be honored by the University of Scranton on Tuesday night at the school’s Carlesimo Award Dinner.

Raftery won 154 games as a head coach at Seton Hall before embarking on a broadcasting career that has spanned three decades.

It’s also important to note that the La Salle alum was a very good player as well, as he was Hudson County’s all-time leading scorer in high school before being surpassed by Rick Apodaca.

From there it was four seasons at La Salle, where he captained the Explorers’ 1964 NIT team.

Hopefully there will be a highlight package of some of Raftery’s greatest calls on Tuesday night. But just in case there isn’t here’s a YouTube clip of what has to be his most famous piece of analysis.

Raphielle is also the assistant editor at CollegeHoops.net and can be followed on Twitter at @raphiellej.
