Albany guard Logan Aronhalt reportedly transfers to Maryland

After averaging 13.8 points and 4.3 rebounds this past season for Albany, guard Logan Aronhalt will take advantage of the graduate transfer rule and move to play for Mark Turgeon at Maryland. He will be eligible to play immediately.

The news was first reported by InsideMDSports.com.

Aronhalt redshirted his freshman season and recently graduated from Albany, giving him the ability to transfer under the much-publicized loophole and end up with the Terrapins.

He had his best season with the Great Danes in 2010-11, when he averaged 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds.

His most immediate contribution will be as a three-point shooter, where he shot 36% and 37% respectively the past two seasons.

In recent Maryland news, forward Ashton Pankey transferred away from the program and guard Terrell Stoglin declared for the NBA, after he would have reportedly been suspended for a season because of a violation of team rules.

The Terrapins finished 17-15 this past season, including 6-10 in the ACC. Turgeon will be bringing in a seven-man recruiting class, with Aronhalt included.

The class is headed by 6-9, 270-pound Texas native Shaquille Cleare.
