Much was made of Providence native Ed Cooley “coming home” when Providence hired him as its head basketball coach last spring.
The Friars may have taken their lumps within Big East play last season but the future is bright at PC, with a highly-touted recruiting class set to arrive this summer (Kris Dunn and Ricardo Ledo leading the way) and a few solid returnees as well.
On Wednesday night Cooley was inducted into the Providence Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame, and during his acceptance speech he cited the club’s role in his growth as a man.
“This Hall Of Fame to me is more important because it’s about people,” Cooley said. “It’s about giving back. Its about creating a community that creates unity.”
