Jerome Frink, a 6-7 forward who played alongside UCLA-bound Kyle Anderson on the undefeated St. Anthony (N.J.) Friars this past season, is close to announcing his college decision, reports Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv.
The report cites Frink’s mother as saying her son is down to FIU, Iona, Hofstra, Quinniapiac, and “a couple other schools.”
Frink took part in last weekend’s Hoop Group Jam Fest in Philadelphia as part of Team ECE/NJABC We R 1, where he played well as an undersized power forward.
The biggest area he will need to improve on when he transitions to the college level will be developing more guard-like skills, as he is a classic in-between player.
Right now, he is a good rebounder and creates an interior presence, but will need to bulk up, or he may be undersized at power forward at the college level, even in a conference like the MAAC.
His St. Anthony team went 32-0 and ended up ranked as the top team in New Jersey and in the Top 5 nationally.
Hofstra and Quinnipiac were among the schools watching Frink at last weekend’s Jam Fest.
