The Big 12 granted Texas A&M sophomore forward a medical redshirt on Thursday, leaving him with three years of eligibility remaining.

Roberson, who averaged 4.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in 2011-12, played in just nine games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in the Aggies’ win over Rice on December 22.

The Arcadia, Louisiana native got off to a good start before bruising his foot five games into the season.

Four games later he suffered the ankle injury that would end up cutting his sophomore campaign short.

With David Lobeau graduating and Khris Middleton entering the NBA Draft, Roberson will be a key cog in the front court rotation for head coach Billy Kennedy.

Junior college power forward Andrew Young will also factor into a rotation that will be led by Ray Turner, whose scoring and rebounding averages (9.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg) improved considerably from 2010-11.
