Xavier assistant Rasheen Davis leaving to join staff at Manhattan

RasheenDavis

Xavier assistant Rasheen Davis is leaving the Musketeer staff to join Steve Masiello at Manhattan, reports Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

NBCSports.com has confirmed the news.

Davis was at Xavier for two seasons, having come over from Jamie Dixon’s staff at Pittsburgh, where he worked as a video coordinator.

The move to Manhattan puts Davis, a New York City native, close to home. Prior to his experience in college, Davis coached under now-St. John’s Director of Basketball Operations Moe Hicks at Rice High School (N.Y.).

He was perhaps the best recruiter on the Xavier staff and was a main reason why five-star 2013 guard Chris Thomas committed to play for the Musketeers earlier this month.

Davis has strong ties to the New York City area, not only from Rice, but from coaching the New York Gauchos, a prominent AAU team in the city that has turned out talent that includes Charlotte Bobcats guard Kemba Walker.
