PHILADELPHIA-- College coaches won’t get a chance to watch 2012 Constitution (Pa.) forward Savon Goodman this weekend at the Hoop Group Philly Jam Fest, as he continues to sit out with pain from a sprained knee he suffered last week in Pittsburgh.
But that doesn’t mean speculation will end, as Goodman weighs his options and will soon decide whether he will remain in the Class of 2012 or reclassify to 2013.
“It’s a possibility that I move to 2013,” Goodman told NBCSports.com on Friday night. “I’m just waiting until school is over to weigh all my options.”
Goodman says the schools most hotly in pursuit of him are UNLV, Missouri, UCLA, St. John’s, Temple, and Pittsburgh.
He has a visit planned to St. John’s within the next two weeks, and hopes to visit UNLV and Missouri, as well.
With stories of how influential current commits to a program can be on prospective recruits, Goodman says that he has gotten the same treatment from players in his class.
“They’ve touched base, but I can’t look at what other guys do. I have to look at a school that’s best situation for me, to come in and work for my minutes” he said. “I don’t want to piggyback off of what someone else has.”
Would that rule out a school like UCLA, a team that already has Top 5 talents in Kyle Anderson and Shabazz Muhammad?
“No, no, no,” he insisted. “I just want to be a part. I’m definitely interested in UCLA.”
Formerly committed to Villanova, Goodman’s list reaches from the Atlantic to the Pacific, with Missouri in between, which would seem to indicate at least a willingness to play away from home.
"[Location] is not a factor,” he said. “I’m wide open.”
With an injured Goodman on the bench, his New Rens (N.Y.) team won in overtime on Friday night, 61-59.
