According to Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com, Southern Miss has offered its open head coaching position to current Morehead State head coach Donnie Tyndall.
Tyndall interviewed with Southern Miss on Monday in New Orleans, and in six seasons at Morehead State he has a record of 114-85 with two NCAA tournament appearances.
Southern Miss is looking to replace Larry Eustachy, who took over at Colorado State for the departed Tim Miles (now at Nebraska) earlier this month.
The Golden Eagles reached the NCAA tournament last season, finishing with a record of 25-9 overall and 11-5 in Conference USA.
Leading scorers Neil Watson (12.3 ppg) and LaShay Page (11.6 ppg) are due back for Southern Miss, which would be a good position in which to start for whoever takes the job.
According to the report former assistant Greg Heiar, who is now at Wichita State), former Nebraska head coach Doc Sadler and Mississippi Valley State head coach Sean Woods have also interviewed for the position.
