Savon Goodman says college might wait until 2013-14

Savon Goodman could be a welcome addition to a school’s 2012-13 roster. The 6-6 wing boasts an impressive build, is aggressive to the basket and would be capable of boosting a defense.

If he enters college.

Goodman is considering spending a year in prep school and reclassifying to the class of 2013, according to Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com. When Goodman de-committed from Villanova last August, this seemed like a strong possibility. That would help Goodman resolve any potential academic issues and offer more time to work on his game.

“I’m not sure yet,” Goodman told Borzello. “I’m waiting to make a decision.”

Goodman plans to visit St. John’s in two weeks. He met with Temple coaches last week. Missouri, UNLV, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and UCLA also have shown interest. The Pirates could have immediate playing time, too. Guard Sean Grennan will transfer.

Most recruiting sites rate Goodman as a top 100 prospect.
