Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv is reporting that Marco Bourgault and Orlando Sanchez of Monroe College (NY) have committed to St. John’s.

Bourgault, a 6-6 sophomore originally from St. Malo, France, red-shirted his freshman year at Monroe, but previously averaged 18 points per game in high school at Notre Dame Prep (Md.).

Lavin has been recruiting internationally, as he headed to Europe to evaluate prospects last month.

St. John’s needs a three-point shooter, and Bourgault fills that need.

The Red Storm shot just 28% from the three-point line in 2011-12 and will be losing second-leading scorer Moe Harkless to the NBA draft.

Sanchez helps to take care of the need for a big man on the inside. At 6-8, 210 pounds, he will help to solidify the middle, which was depleted last season after 2011 signees Norvel Pelle and JaKarr Sampson were ruled ineligible.

Bourgault will have three years of eligibility left at St. John’s and Sanchez will have two.

Lavin now has four players in his 2012 recruiting class, as Bourgault and Sanchez join the Brewster Academy (N.H.) forward Sampson, who returns to the fold, and Our Savior (N.Y.) forward Felix Balamou.

Chris Obekpa, also of Our Savior (N.Y.), is the most prominent remaining prospect that the Red Storm hope to land. The 6-8 Obekpa is one of the better uncommitted big men and an elite shotblocker in the class.
