Georgetown, UConn, others recruiting 6-10 Jacksonville (Fla.) center Bradley Hayes

PITTSBURGH—You’d be hard-pressed to find a college coach who doesn’t want to add a 6-10 player to his roster in the spring to solidify a recruiting class.

Because of that, as the signing period goes on, buzz about Bradley Hayes of the D12 Warriors (Fla.) is picking up.

Hayes is a 6-10, 230-pound center who is picking up attention and high-major interest from teams that include Central Florida, Connecticut, Georgia, South Florida, Georgetown, Michigan State, and Arkansas.

Contrary to previous published reports, Hayes tells NBCSports.com that he has not trimmed his list, and says that he plans to do so in the coming month, but he has formed an idea of what he is looking for in a college.

“I really want a school with player development, so I can go to [the NBA], which I plan on doing,” he says.

Of the schools on his list, Hayes says Georgetown and Connecticut seem to be the best at fostering big men.

There would be vacancies at both schools next year, as Andre Drummond, Alex Oriakhi, and Roscoe Smith are leaving Connecticut, while Henry Sims is graduating from Georgetown.

“Right now, I’m out here trying to get everything I can get,” he says. He adds that he is set on making a decision in late May.

His D12 Warriors are undefeated so far in Hoop Group’s Pittsburgh Jam Fest, which runs through Sunday.
