Conference USA and the Mountain West just can’t make up their minds.
The two conferences will neither merge nor dissolve and reform as one. Instead, (via CFT) they’ll maintain the status quo and stay separate. For now.
The two leagues, according to Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com, are still trying to work out the details for a merger would work. The TV, marketing and scheduling resources are becoming difficult to sort out.
If they stay separate for the immediate future, they have work to do. The MWC has to fill spots left by Boise State, San Diego State and TCU. C-USA has to replace Houston, SMU, Memphis and UCF.
Count on a merger at some point. It’s just unclear when.
