Texas A&M t-shirt company is still getting acquainted with the SEC

It appears that even Texas A&M fans struggle when it comes to figuring out who is in the new SEC.

Aggieland Outfitters, which is, quite obviously, an online apparel store for Texas A&M gear, was forced to recall some t-shirts on Tuesday. The problem? The shirts, which you see to the right and can be found here, had a couple of geographical inaccuracies.

A&M is moving to the SEC next season, but the states shown behind the wording on the t-shirt are not exactly an accurate geographical representation of the conference. There are no SEC schools in North Carolina, which is shown. There is, however, an SEC school in Missouri, which is not shown.

Yikes.

As you might imagine, once news of the mistake hit twitter, Aggieland Outfitters felt the wrath of the internet. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however.

“A year ago, if this situation would have happened, no one would have cared. It would not have been part of the national dialogue in the Twitter world today as part of that,” Jason Cook, Texas A&M’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, said. “But now, because we’ve changed conferences it is national fodder because we’re on the radar. This time last year, we weren’t. That tells me there’s a lot more growth in the exposure of the brand.”

That’s one way to look at it.
