Purdue’s John Hart could provide an instant boost for someone

John Hart never found his niche at Purdue. So he’ll spend his senior season somewhere else.

The 6-2 guard announced the move Monday without much fanfare, which isn’t a surprise given his production in 63 games with the Boilermakers: 2.6 points and .8 rebounds a game.

But he does have some upside for a program in need.

He’ll graduate this summer with a degree in organizational leadership and supervision. If he chooses a school that offers a graduate program that’s not offered at Purdue, he can play right away.

He might not be the guy who dumped 14 points on Illinois after sitting out seven straight games, but Hart could provide some depth, experience and some additional ball-handling. Also, he’s a good guy.

“We appreciate the efforts John has put into helping our program over the last four years,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said in a statement. “He is a hard worker and a good student, and will be a quality addition to his future institution.”
