Billy Donovan’s summer just got a lot busier.

Florida’s coach will be the coach for Team USA’s squad in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, held June 16-20 in Sao Sebastiao do Paraiso, Brazil. He’ll be capably flanked by Gonzaga’s Mark Few and VCU’s Shaka Smart as assistants.

“It’s always an honor to be selected to represent your country, and I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity to be a part of USA Basketball,” Donovan said in a release. “I have great respect for Shaka Smart and Mark Few, and I’m looking forward to working alongside them.”

Smart was an assistant to Donovan for one season at Florida.

They don’t yet know which players they’ll be coaching – eligible players must be born on or after Jan. 1, 1984 – but that’ll come after they survey roughly 30 players during training camp held June 5-12 in Colorado Springs.

They’ll be trying to defend the U.S. title, too. Baylor’s Quincy Miller hit a game-winning 3-pointer against Brazil to win the tourney in 2010.
