According to SBNation Houston, Florida State forward Antwan Space will leave Tallahassee and transfer to Texas A&M. Space was one of Leonard Hamilton’s more highly-regarded recruits, but his freshman season never got off the ground. He played in just ten games, averaged less than a point per contest, and missed the rest of the season while rehabbing a broken foot.

The 6-foot-8 Space grew up in Texas and starred at DeSoto high school. He will have to sit out the mandatory one season, but will retain three years of eligibility for Billy Kennedy thereafter. Space has shown an intriguing blend of size and shooting touch when healthy, and anyone who plays for Hamilton learns to defend in a real ice-pick-to-the-temple sort of way. If Space retains that mentality, his lanky frame will cause no end of hardship for opposing Big 12 forwards.

Kennedy is adding Top 100 guards J-Mychal Reese and Alex Caruso in 2012, and has his sights set on some of the nation’s top big men in 2013. The addition of Space should give Kennedy a strong selling point to base his future recruiting pitches around. Space will benefit from an extra season on the bench to fully heal his foot injury and learn the system at A&M.
