Kodi Maduka, the Tulsa player who collapsed while playing a game of pick-up basketball last week, has been released from the hospital, the school reported Wednesday.
As the AP reports, Maduka remained in the hospital for observations and tests to ensure his health before release.
In the school’s statement, Maduka calls the recovery an “Easter miracle that could have been tragic,” and credits “the athletic department, the athletic trainers, teammates, coach Manning and his coaching staff” for their quick response.
The school’s release did not specify the cause of Maduka’s collapse.
The 6-11 Maduka averaged 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds last season for Tulsa, who welcomes new head coach Danny Manning, who was hired last week after being an assistant coach at Kansas since 2006-07.
Players like Maduka should benefit from a coach like Manning, who is credited for developing college big men into NBA-ready players at Kansas, including the Morris twins and AP Player of the Year finalist Thomas Robinson.
