Bryce Cotton ‘fully committed’ to Providence

Bryce Cotton won’t be leaving Providence after all.

The sophomore guard had reportedly been considering a transfer (coach Ed Cooley called it “all speculation”), but the school announced Wednesday that he’s staying put.

“I am fully committed to our basketball program and I am excited about the direction the program is headed in. I am looking forward to continuing my education and graduating from Providence College,” Cotton said in a statement released by the school.

Cotton averaged 14.3 points per game last season and will be a crucial leader for next season’s incoming freshmen, headed by shooting guard Ricky Ledo and point guard Kris Dunn. With sophomores Gerard Coleman and Ron Giplaye given releases to transfer (and Bilal Dixon leaving the program), all three should receive ample playing time.
