Former four-star recruit Mychal Parker will transfer after spending two years at Maryland.

“Recently, I met with Coach Turgeon,” Parker wrote in a post for The Recruit Scoop, “and he informed me that I should probably start looking at other options as he expected my opportunities on the court at Maryland to decrease due to his incoming recruits. Up until this meeting, it was my intention to continue to work hard and graduate from Maryland.”

As a sophomore, Parker averaged 4.3 ppg in 18.0 mpg. But with Terrel Stoglin and Nick Faust returning and Pe’Shon Howard returning to health, there simply don’t appear to be many minutes available with freshmen Jake Layman and Seth Allen joining the perimeter rotation.

“This is the toughest decision of my life, and it is something I never thought I would have to do, even up until just a few weeks ago,” Parker wrote. “I have no hard feelings towards the Maryland staff, and I completely understand the business side of things and will always consider myself a Terp for life.”

He’s received interest from East Carolina, UAB and Loyola (MD).
