B.J. Young’s NBA aspirations will wait at least another season. The freshman guard announced Monday night that he’ll return to Arkansas.

He spent the last few weeks gathering information about his draft prospects and decided his game would be better served by another year in Mike Anderson’s up-tempo system.

The 6-3 guard was a solid scorer (15.3 ppg) despite often playing as the team’s sixth man. Once they lost leading scorer Marshawn Powell for the season because of an injury in February, Young became the go-to guy.

Arkansas finished 18-14, including a closing stretch where the Hogs were 3-9. But with Young, Rickey Scott, Rashad Madden, Mardracus Wade and a healthy Powell, they have the pieces in place to be one of the SEC’s better teams in 2013. Starter Julysses Nobles will be the only big loss.
