Tulsa center Kodi Maduka in stable condition following collapse

Just 90 minutes after attending the introductory press conference for new head coach Danny Manning, Tulsa center Kodi Maduka was taken to the hospital after collapsing during a pickup game.

Maduka, a 6-11 sophomore from Arlington, Texas, sat out the second half of Tulsa’s game against Oklahoma State on November 30th due to a possible heart issue and missed the following game as well.

“At times, his heart races a little bit,” said then-head coach Doug Wojcik at the time.

According to reports Maduka is now in stable condition and will be kept in the hospital overnight for observation.

He averaged 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Golden Hurricane last season.

Given the work that Manning was able to do in developing big men at Kansas (he was also MOP of the 1988 Final Four), Maduka stands to make quite the leap in his junior campaign.

But that’s all secondary to his health at this point obviously.
