The 2012 National Champion Kentucky Wildcats are known for their underclassmen talent. Three starters are freshman and the other two are sophomores. But no player is as important to this team’s success as senior Darius Miller.
He is the lone hold-over from the Billy Gillespie regime, and while he may not be a first round pick like many of his teammates, his leadership and guidance is one of the most important reasons why this young team played with such poise the entire season.
Four years ago, Miller averaged 5.3ppg for a team that was bounced in the Quarterfinals of the N.I.T. But fast forward to 2012, and he was the final member of the squad to cut down the nets in New Orleans.
Watch below as his teammates talk about what this win meant for Darius, as well of the type of character and human being he is. Forget what you think you know about Kentucky only having “one-and-dones”, because Darius Miller is the epitome of the standout student-athlete.
Just ask his teammates.
