Most Kentucky fans might not like Rick Pitino, but he still loves Kentucky enough to root for the Wildcats on Monday.
After Louisville’s 69-61 loss to Kentucky in Saturday’s Final Four game, the Cardinals coach told reporters there’s no question who he wants to win the national title.
“I’ll certainly be rooting for them hard to bring the trophy back to Kentucky because I’m really impressed with them, not only as basketball players, the way they carry themselves, their attitude. They’re a great group of guys, doing a tremendous job,” he said.
“Louisville will be rooting for Kentucky, which doesn’t happen very often, to bring home that trophy to the state.”
Bitter rivals? Maybe not when state pride is on the line.
