According to a report from Andy Katz of ESPN.com, the College of Charleston has hired former Tulsa head coach Doug Wojcik as their new head coach.

Wojcik replaces Bobby Cremins, who had to retire due to an unspecified health issue.

Wojcik was relieved of his duties at Tulsa earlier this month after going 17-14 overall and 10-6 in Conference USA. He will be replaced by Kansas assistant coach Danny Manning.

Associate head coach Mark Byington, who took over for Cremins when he had to leave the team during the season, was one of the finalists for the job. The school will hold a press conference on Wednesday.

In seven seasons at Tulsa, Wojcik went 140-92 but his struggles in getting the Golden Hurricane over the hump and into the NCAA tournament played a major role in his dismissal.

Under Wojcik, Tulsa went 0-14 against Memphis, but he did go 67-32 against the rest of Conference USA.

On the current Charleston roster only Antwaine Wiggins departs.

With the likes of forwards Adjehi Baru and Trent Wiedeman back, along with guards Andrew Lawrence and Jordan Scott, the tools needed to challenge Davidson at the top of the Southern Conference will be there.
