When a team enters the Final Four with a 38-0 record the individual honors are sure to follow.

That’s the case for the Baylor Bears, who had both their best player and head coach honored by the Associated Press on Saturday.

Junior center Brittney Griner won AP National Player of the Year honors and head coach Kim Mulkey was named AP Coach of the Year, and neither honor comes as a surprise.

Griner, who received 36 of the 40 first-place votes, averages 24.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5.2 blocks per game for the Lady Bears, who take on Stanford in the national semifinals on Sunday night.

Mulkey received 19 of the 40 first-place votes, with Delaware’s Tina Martin coming in second.
