Fingers crossed Final Four refs lay off the whistles

spt-120330-refs

Mike Miller

Unless you’re a Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville or Ohio State fan – or have a chance to win your bracket pool – the only thing you’re probably rooting for this weekend is two good games.

Perhaps the 10 referees chosen to work the games will help us out.

Those 10 -- Pat Adams, Roger Ayers, Joe DeRosa, Tom Eades, Verne Harris, Les Jones, Jamie Luckie, Doug Shows, Mike Stuart and Mark Whitehead – should be the best the game has to offer. None of the nonsense we saw during the Ohio State-Syracuse game (seriously, what was with all those fouls?) should pop up if this is true.

“Much like the four teams that have advanced to the Final Four, these 10 men were selected to work this tournament based on the evaluation of their performance during the regular season,” John W. Adams, national coordinator of men’s basketball officiating, told Yahoo! Sports.

There will be different three-man crews for Saturday’s semifinals and a different crew for the title game on Monday. Saturday’s crews will be announced tomorrow morning.
