Notre Dame made a surprising turnaround this season after beginning 11-8. Eventually, they climbed their way back into the NCAA tournament for the 3rd straight season. To run that streak to four, they will be doing it without the services of part-time starter Alex Dragicevich.
The 6-7 sophomore announced today that he was transferring.
Dragicevich started 10 games and averaged 20.5 minutes a game this season, and scored 6.6 points a game.
It was after he came out of the starting lineup that Notre Dame went on their run.
After scoring a career high 22 in late December against Pittsburgh, he would only reach double-figures once more all year. In Notre Dame’s opening round NCAA tournament loss to Xavier, Dragicevich played 17 minutes and scored two points.
The possibility of Scott Martin begin granted a 6th year of eligibility, combined with incoming 4-star freshman Cameron Biedscheid and the return of Dragicevich’s replacement (Pat Connaughton), meant that minutes at the wing would have been hard to come by next season.
