Freshman point guard Myck Kabongo will return to Texas for his sophomore, he announced Monday afternoon.

Kabongo averaged almost 10 points and five assists per game this season for a Texas team that lost in the NCAA tournament to Cincinnati.

He was a blue-chip prospect coming out of high school and is a native of Toronto, Canada, by way of Findlay Prep (Nev.).

The news was announced on Texas’ Longhorn Network, as well as tweeted later by Kabongo himself.

His biggest game of the season came in a loss to Oklahoma State, when he scored 22 points and had four rebounds.

The next NBA decision Texas will hear about should come from Kabongo’s teammate J’Covan Brown, who is mulling his professional options.

Brown averaged 20 points and almost four assists this season.
