Yesterday a report circulated that Dion Waiters would be leaving for the NBA, and today the sophomore guard from Syracuse made it official. Waiters broke the news on Twitter while thanking his fans.

The enigmatic player struggled his freshman year adjusting to life coming off the bench, and then his game really blossomed as a sophomore. Waiters was the 2nd leading scorer for the Orangemen this season, averaging 12.7 a game.

His stats also improved across the board. He shot better from beyond the arc, from inside the arc, his assist rate went up and his turnover rate went down. And like his freshman year, his quick instincts allowed him to be one of the most gifted defenders in the game when it came to generating steals.

He was the 6th man of the year in the Big East, and most project him as a late first-round pick.
