Andy Kennedy to remain at Ole Miss

Andy Kennedy is not going anymore.

The Ole Miss head coach had been rumored to be interested in the opening at UAB, his alma mater, but as he told CBSSports.com, Kennedy is not going anywhere.

“I have had no discussions with UAB regarding their head coaching position,” Kennedy said. “Brian Mackin and I are friends, and I have complete confidence that he will find a quality coach that will lead my alma mater into the future. I’ve put many years of sweat equity into Blazer basketball and Birmingham will always be a special place to me and my family, but I am right where I’m supposed to be.”

This is an interesting decision by Kennedy. He’s been at Ole Miss for six years and has yet to take the Rebels to the NCAA tournament, although he has been to five NITs. If he doesn’t get Ole Miss to the tournament in 2013, will he still have a job in Oxford?

And if he doesn’t, will he be able to get a job as good as UAB?
