Old Dominion star Kent Bazemore went through layup drills with the Monarchs before Wednesday night’s game CIT quarterfinal against Mercer, but never played.

He was arrested before the game began.

Per WAVY TV news, it seems Bazemore was convicted on a DUI charge. But he didn’t complete the terms of his sentence, which included attending ASAP classes. There was a court appearance scheduled when he missed them. When he didn’t show up for the court date, a warrant was issued.

So, a Virginia Beach detective was waiting for Bazemore at the game Wednesday night.

He was released later Wednesday night. (ODU lost the game.)

Old Dominion issued this statement:

“Kent Bazemore was suspended prior to the game for a possible conduct issue. We cannot comment further at this time as this is a student privacy issue. Information is still being gathered.”
