Ryan Kelly hasn’t played a game for Duke since their regular season finale with North Carolina. He missed the ACC tournament, and their NCAA opener against Lehigh. And now he’s had foot surgery and will be out for 6-8 weeks.

The surgery was performed earlier today.

Foot surgeries are relatively common for basketball players, and with an entire off-season to rehab, it is assumed that Kelly should be fine.

The 6-11 Kelly was the 3rd leading scorer for Duke, averaging 11.8 ppg. He had a breakout year of sorts, finally showing off the 3-point touch that he displayed in high school. In his freshman and sophomore years he only made 31% from beyond the arc, but upped that to 41% this season.

With the uncertainty surrounding Duke’s roster, a healthy Ryan Kelly will help sooth fans worries about next year.
