Tickets for the IU-UK rematch won’t be cheap

Kentucky v Indiana

The Kentucky-Indiana rematch is finally here, and getting a ticket to the game won’t be easy, or cheap.

Indiana controlled VCU’s havoc defense for the final five minutes on the game, to claim a 63-61 victory. Kentucky played a nearly perfect second half en route to a 87-71 victory over Iowa State.

The Sweet-16 rematch will take place in Atlanta, just 380 miles south of Lexington. But even though the arena is likely to be dominated by Kentucky fans, the tickets won’t be easy to purchase. As of 10:30PM EST on Saturday night, the cheapest ticket available on StubHub for just the Indiana/Kentucky game is $145. A ticket for the entire session is available for $200.

To get an idea of just how much Big Blue Nation moves the needle, know that when Kentucky was bounced from the 2011 Final Four in Houston, scalpers were selling $100 face-value tickets for $35.

But considering the first go-around between these two teams was an instant classic, both Hoosier and Wildcat fans are probably more than willing to shell out the big buckets in order to have a guaranteed seat for round two.

(UPDATE: As of 4:00PM EST on Sunday, the cheapest tickets for the Friday session on StubHub are $195. The cheapest tickets for the entire South Regional are $240)
