Root for Kyle O’Quinn. Norfolk State’s star forward deserves more than just one shining moment.
Not only did he burn No. 2 Missouri for 26 points and 14 rebounds in the Spartans’ win Friday – one of six times a 15 seed has won an NCAA tournament game since it expanded to 64 teams in 1985 – but he followed it up by streaming into the locker room and delivering the line of the night.
“We messed up some brackets! We messed up some brackets!” he said. “We even messed up my bracket.”
Talent, candor and humility? That’s a man casual fans can embrace. The crowd in Omaha, Neb, who watched him already love him.
And why not? Sounds as if it runs in the family. His dad, Tommie, took as much delight – and offered up as many quotes – in the win.
But there’s nothing like video evidence to prove a point. So, in case you missed it, watch Kyle O’Quinn’s postgame interview with sideline reporter Craig Sager. Pure. Genius.
