President Obama, British PM on hand for the First Four

How much does President Barack Obama love basketball? Enough to drag British Prime Minister David Cameron to a game between Western Kentucky and Mississippi Valley State. Cameron’s first college hoops game (he prefers cricket and soccer) isn’t exactly what most would pick, though.

It’s an NCAA tournament game, but this is the First Four, featuring two teams that are viewed as the weakest in the field of 68. Duke-North Carolina, it’s not.

But, it’s what the schedule dictated.

Cameron’s on a three-day visit to the U.S., which includes the upcoming NATO and G-8 summits. They couldn’t fit in any other games when the tournament begins in earnest on Thursday. So Obama got in his hoops, when he could. (Mitt Romney doesn’t make it a priority.)

As a fellow hoophead, I can’t blame him.
