Video: Iona knows it’ll have to run, run, run vs. BYU

Iona was one of the last teams in the NCAA tournament – which was the correct decision – but that’s doesn’t mean Gaels coach Tim Cluess spent Sunday sitting around the house relaxed.

As he told Russ Thaler of SportsTalk, he knew his team was on the bubble, but “had a strong case.”

So, now that they’re in, how will the Gaels’ fare? Cluess played it cool in this video, but did indicate some hopes Momo Jones turns in another strong NCAA tourney showing.

Iona (25-7) will undoubtedly be tested by BYU (25-8) in Tuesday’s First Four game. The Gaels feature slightly more talent with Jones, Scott Machado and Michael Glover, but the Cougars are hardly a bunch of stuffs.

Brandon Davies and Noah Hartsock will be tough inside, while Matt Carlino and Charles Abouo should find plenty of room to shoot. It’s a coin-flip game (I guess I’d take the Gaels), but represents a First Four dream matchup in terms of watchability.

Both teams like to run and will run. If we’re lucky, this thing’ll hit triple digits.
