The one problem with March? Somebody’s gotta lose those dramatic games that go down as great drama. And the other end of feel-good stories?
Ones that hurt.
When Western Kentucky capped a remarkable turnaround – it started the season 5-14, fired its coach, replaced him with a popular guy who eventually had the interim tag removed – by winning the Sun Belt tournament Tuesday night and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. At 15-18, the Hilltoppers are the only team with a sub.-500 record in the field thus far.
Then there’s North Texas, which lost the game. This shot of coach Johnny Jones walking the floor after the confetti fell from the ceiling says it all. Easy call for Photo of the Day.
