All those Arizona fans that were hoping their team would able to string together three wins in a row and earn the Pac-12’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament got dealt a bit of bad news on Tuesday evening when word came out that Josiah Turner was suspended indefinitely.

Details are unclear right now, but what we do know is that Turner is not in LA with his teammates meaning he did not make the trip to the Pac-12 Tournament.

It is not yet known when (if?) he will be available, but at this point it is fair to speculate that he may not play again this season. This is officially the second time that Turner has been suspended -- he did not make the trip with the Wildcats to Florida -- but he was also held out of a game back in November for showing up late to a team shootaround.

If you’re dumb enough to do something to get yourself suspended right before the start of postseason play, what is a coach’s motivation to bring you back?

Have we seen the last of Josiah Turner in an Arizona jersey? (UPDATE: Jeff Goodman thinks so.)

UPDATE: Sean Miller has put out a statement:

“Josiah Turner has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team for a violation of team rules. I am disappointed in Josiah for his actions. Unfortunately this suspension comes at a time of great excitement and opportunity for our team. However, the standards of our program will not be compromised under any circumstances. Hopefully, Josiah will learn a valuable lesson from this experience.”
