NCAA tournament upsets in a format that’s fun to see

The last two NCAA tournament featured a fair number of early round upsets, not to mention Butler making the Final Four (and VCU last season). Compared to 2008 when all four No. 1 seeds made the Final Four, that’s mass chaos.

But it’s not nearly as fun to type. I’d prefer a visual representation, you know?

That’s a cue for this post by Gregory Matthews of TeamRankings.com, who whipped up 11 balloon plots to showcase the upsets with a touch of the rainbow. You might remember ’07, ’08 and ’09 being fairly boring for upsets. You’re correct. Here’s 2008.

But the last two years have more of the Crayola thing going on. Here’s last season.
