Duke won’t have versatile, sharpshooting forward Ryan Kelly for the ACC tournament, the school announced Tuesday. He suffered a foot sprain during practice.
It will be re-evaluated Monday.
Kelly, a 6-11 junior, has started 19 games and is the Blue Devils’ third-leading scorer (11.8 ppg) and rebounder (5.4), not to mention one of their top perimeter threats. Only junior Andre Dawkins shoots a higher percent from beyond the arc than Kelly’s 40.8 percent.
Without Kelly, Duke (26-5) figures to have a hard time winning its third straight ACC tournament title as it diminishes the frontcourt depth significantly.
The Devils open their tournament play on Friday against the Clemson-Virginia Tech winner at 7 p.m.
