Syracuse told NCAA about possible violations ‘years ago’

Syracuse knew problems existed with its internal drug policies. That’s why a Yahoo! Sports report detailing various issues didn’t surprise the school on Monday.

In fact, Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross says the school already reported the possible violations to the NCAA. “Years ago,” according to The Syracuse Post-Standard.

“It’s our policy to self-report any and all potential infractions to the NCAA,” Gross said Monday. “We self-report constantly.”

Gross didn’t provide details to what the school knew or what it told the NCAA. He also told the paper that it wasn’t unusual for the NCAA to take years to rule on a possible violation.

“There’s a process involved,” he said. “There’s discussion. A back-and-forth.”
