After the Redhawks lost to Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tournament, head coach Charlie Coles announced that he will be retiring as the head coach of Miami (OH).

Coles had been at Miami for 16 years, with 14 of them as the head coach as he took over for Herb Sendek, after spending six seasons as the head coach at Central Michigan. He made three NCAA Tournaments with the Redhawks, including their run to the Sweet 16, which was led by future lottery pick Wally Sczcerbiak. When he took CMU to the NCAA Tournament in 1987, his team was led by Dan Majerle.

Coles may be most well-known for the fact that he almost died on the court during a game back in 1998 after suffering a heart attack. Seriously.

As much success as Coles had as a head coach, he was beloved by media members because of his personality, which often-shined through in postgame press conferences.

Perhaps his most memorable moment in a press conference came after John Wall hit a buzzer-beater to beat the Redhawks in his first game at Kentucky.

Just watch:

Never change, Coach. Never change.
