Brown fired coach Jesse Agel, capping a four-year tenure in which they never won more than 11 games in a season.
Agel, who replaced Craig Robinson in 2008 when Robinson left for Oregon State, was 8-23 this season and 39-79 overall.
The school announced the move Monday.
Associate head coach T.J. Sorrentine – a player at Vermont when Agel was an assistant there, will be the interim coach, according to CBSSports.com.
