Video: When one OT buzzer-beater isn’t enough

There’s nothing like hitting a game-winner, only to have an opponent ruin your night by making a shot so unlikely, it’s hard to even practice.

That’s life for Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Robert Willhite.

In the second overtime of Cal Poly Pomona’s 60-58 win Friday night, DeRon Scott hit a 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds left to play, only to see Willhite sink an off-balance 3-pointer with .6 seconds remaining on the clock. That’d normally seal a victory.

Except Cal Poly’s Mitchel Anderson nailed a three-quarter court shot at the buzzer.

No wonder the sequence was on ESPN and various other sites. It has to be seen to be believed.

“I’ve seen games like this on TV but never been a part of one until now,” Broncos’ coach Greg Kamansky told the school’s athletics site. “I’m happy for our seniors since this was their night.”
